HVAC Service Technician (Edmonton)
The HVAC Service Technician delivers preventive maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and commissioning services for commercial and institutional building mechanical systems. Working closely with clients and internal service teams, they ensure HVAC and refrigeration equipment operates safely, reliably, and efficiently. - Deliver safe, high-quality HVAC and refrigeration service, maintenance, and repair work that minimizes equipment downtime and supports reliable building operations.

- Support operational excellence by maintaining accurate service documentation, sharing technical knowledge, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of commercial HVAC, refrigeration, and mechanical systems.
- Diagnose equipment issues and complete repairs efficiently while maintaining high workmanship standards.
- Support equipment start-up and commissioning activities for new and existing building systems.
- Collaborate with service coordinators, supervisors, and fellow technicians to deliver timely, high-quality service.
- Maintain clear communication with clients regarding work performed, equipment conditions, and recommended corrective actions.
- Complete service reports, work orders, inspection forms, and other required documentation accurately and on time.
- Contribute to corporate knowledge-sharing initiatives by participating in the development and maintenance of tools, templates, and technical resources.
- Follow Modern Niagara's health and safety policies, procedures, and industry best practices at all times.
- Participate in the after-hours on-call rotation as required.
Must Haves
- Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Certification with Interprovincial Red Seal.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with an acceptable five-year driver's abstract.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service focus and professionalism when working on client sites.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Willingness to participate in an after-hours on-call rotation.
Nice to Haves
- Gasfitter Class 1 Certification.
- OBT Level 1 or Level 2 Certification.
- Valid safety certifications including:
- First Aid
- WHMIS
- TDG
- Fall Protection
- Aerial Work Platform
- Previous experience servicing commercial and institutional HVAC systems.
- Working references.
This is a new position. This position is a unionized role through UA Local 488.
