About Access Support and Participation (ASaP):Through ASaP, we partner with licensed child care programs across Alberta. This includes both center-based care and family day homes. Once enrolled, teams engage in professional learning, coaching and leadership development to create high-quality, inclusive environments for all children. ASaP is a long-term learning partnership between Kids Included and licensed childcare programs that lasts up to two years, with continuing support for alumni after that.
Position Overview: Reporting to the Supervisor, the ASaP Coach will guide early learning and care staff to implement Pyramid Model strategies to support the social emotional development of all children enrolled in the community program and address challenging behaviors.
Key Responsibilities: The successful candidate will develop collaborative, respectful relationships with all community partners and respect the confidentiality of early learning and care programs and families. They will manage a caseload of Child Care programs as assigned by the ASaP Supervisor and provide monthly coaching, up to four times per month, using data to determine frequency. The role includes completing the Teaching Pyramid Observational Tool (TPOT) or Teaching Pyramid Infant Toddler Observation Scale (TPITOS), ensuring accurate and timely scoring and data collection. The ASaP Coach will observe, inquire, and reflect upon the program’s beliefs, values, and philosophies to guide coaching sessions and provide information and resources on social and emotional development to enhance family involvement and learning opportunities.
Through collaboration, the Coach will support the development of a Program Leadership Team and support utilization of the Pyramid Model Implementation Data System (PIDS) to enter information and make data-based decisions. You will support Site Leads in creating professional learning goals and action plans based on information from the TPOT/TPITOS and provide mentorship to Site Leads’ to enhance skills and confidence for peer-to-peer coaching. The role also requires participation in ongoing staff development, research, and program evaluation
Job Requirements:
- Education: Degree or diploma in related field of study (e.g., Early Childhood Development, Disability Studies)
- 5 years supervisory/mentorship experience in an Early Learning and Care setting
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Creative problem solver & team player
- Experience in facilitating workshops
- Intermediate computer skills (e.g., SharePoint, Teams, Outlook)
- Comfort with using technology for data collection, meetings, and distance coaching
- Own reliable vehicle with required business insurance coverage
- Willingness and ability to travel to rural communities, as needed
- Clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector and Children’s intervention Record Check.
Compensation: Kids included offers a comprehensive compensation package that includes Group Benefits, up to 6% Group RSP matching, TELUS Health Employee Assistance Program, and three weeks of paid vacation to start. The hourly rate for this position ranges from $29.90-$46.30, based on experience and education. The role is 35.00 hours per week.
Physical Demands include:
This role requires the ability to perform a range of physical and functional duties in a child-focused environment. The position involves prolonged periods of sitting while completing documentation and computer-based work, as well as frequent walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, and sitting on low chairs or the floor to interact effectively with children at their level. Candidates must have the manual dexterity to write notes, and use laptops or tablets. The role also requires lifting and carrying materials between vehicles, offices, and child care sites. Strong visual observation skills are essential for assessing articulation, gestures, play, behavior, and reviewing reports and assessments. A valid driver's license and the ability to travel between sites, including out-of-town locations, is required.
