POSITION SUMMARY:
An experienced Painter/Finisher for Millwork and Cabinets, the ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in the custom commercial millwork industry. You will be able to mix paint to match colors by eye and have experience in shading. You will also perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the workplace.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Mix paint with the use of Zahn cups, match paint to laminates, and apply paint, pre catalyzed, post catalyzed products, enamel and other finishes, sandpaper, prime or seal surfaces prior to painting.
- Apply paint to surfaces including doors and cabinet parts.
- Apply lacquers, glazers etc. to obtain desired wood and MDF finishes.
- Inspect parts during the finishing process to ensure quality and uniformity can be attained.
- Ensure quality of paint application is suitable for millwork final assembly.
- Proper use of sandpaper and knowledge of grit choice for purpose of process.
- Smooth imperfections with filler/putty, touch up surfaces and make minor repairs.
- Maintain an organized, clean and tidy workspace to ensure smooth process and production.
- Work on multiple projects simultaneously and follow production schedule to ensure deadlines are met.
- Standing for extended periods during your shift Is required due to the nature of the work
QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
- Experience painting/staining cabinet materials such as MDF, Solid Maple/Oak, Veneer etc.
- Knowledge of parts, part styles, finishes and colors is required
- Ability to mix paint to match colors, and experience in shading is required
- Proficient in the use of cabinet paints and lacquers, color matching and mixing of stains involved / shading to achieve uniformity
- Ability to work under limited supervision following industry standards and/or methods.
- Attention to detail is required
- Keeping a fast work pace is necessary to match the volume of work schedule.
- Proper use of safety equipment
- Knowledge of cleaning out equipment.
- Ability to lift 50lbs is required
