Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Temporary Seamstress / Alterations Specialist to join our team. This role involves customizing and tailoring garments to meet customer specifications, ensuring high-quality alterations. The position offers the potential for permanent employment for the right candidate who demonstrates exceptional craftsmanship and professionalism. Responsibilities
- Perform clothing alterations and repairs, including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, and resizing garments
- Consult with customers to understand their alteration needs and provide expert recommendations
- Measure clients accurately using basic math skills to ensure proper fit
- Operate sewing machines, sergers, and other tailoring equipment safely and effectively
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace to promote safety and efficiency
- Manage multiple alteration projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding progress and completion of their garments
Skills
- Proven sewing skills with experience in garment alterations and tailoring
- Strong attention to detail to ensure precise measurements and high-quality finishes
- Basic math skills for accurate measurements and adjustments
- Excellent customer service abilities to create a positive client experience
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and customer needs
- Prior experience with sewing machines, sergers, and fabric handling is preferred but not required
