Part-Time Community Support Worker – Coquitlam, BC
We are seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Community Support Worker to provide one-on-one support to an adult in the community. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys helping others engage in meaningful activities, explore their community, and build independence while having fun.
Position Details
- Location: Coquitlam, BC
- Schedule: Mondays and Wednesdays, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
- Hours: 6 hours per week
- Part-time position
- Additional hours may be available based on program needs and employee availability, including opportunities to support other individuals served by the agency.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one support in community settings.
- Support participation in recreational and leisure activities based on the individual's interests.
- Encourage independence, community inclusion, and personal growth.
- Assist with social interactions and the development of life skills.
- Ensure the individual's safety, dignity, and well-being at all times.
- Support access to community resources and activities.
- Maintain professional communication with family members, social workers, and team members.
- Complete daily reports, progress notes, and required documentation.
Activities May Include
- Community outings
- Visiting local cafés and restaurants
- Walking trails and parks
- Fishing and other outdoor recreational activities
- Exploring community events and points of interest
- Building social and recreational skills
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, mental health challenges, or other support needs is preferred.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License and access to a reliable personal vehicle.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification.
- Clear Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and responsibly in community settings.
- Reliable, patient, and positive approach to supporting others.
- Ability to complete clear, objective, and professional documentation.
