For a Heavy Duty Technician, this is an opportunity to work with a well-established organization, access strong technical resources and training, and play a direct role in keeping customers' trucks and trailers operating safely and reliably. Technicians are supported with the tools, equipment, and resources needed to perform quality work while developing their skills and advancing their careers.
As the Heavy Duty Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining trucks and trailers to ensure they remain safe, reliable, and ready for the road.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and related issues on heavy-duty trucks and trailers using appropriate diagnostic equipment and technical resources.
Inspect equipment to identify faults, determine the root cause of issues, and recommend effective repair solutions.
Perform accurate troubleshooting and repairs while maintaining high standards of workmanship and reliability.
Complete preventative maintenance, inspections, repairs, and component replacements on trucks and trailers.
Perform work on engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension, steering, electrical systems, and other heavy-duty components.
Complete repairs efficiently while ensuring all work meets applicable safety, quality, and manufacturer standards.
Help keep customer equipment operating safely and efficiently by completing repairs in a timely and professional manner.
Communicate repair findings, required parts, and recommended maintenance with service personnel and other members of the team.
Contribute to a strong customer experience by taking pride in the quality and reliability of every repair.
Follow established workplace, equipment, and occupational health and safety procedures at all times.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment and ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained.
Work collaboratively with other technicians, service personnel, and parts teams to complete jobs effectively and minimize equipment downtime.
Stay current with new technologies, diagnostic methods, equipment, and repair procedures through ongoing training and hands-on experience.
Take advantage of available technical resources and development opportunities to continue building expertise as a heavy-duty technician.
Share knowledge and experience with other team members to help maintain a highly skilled and capable service team.
To succeed in this role, candidates should demonstrate:
Journeyperson Heavy Duty Equipment Technician, Heavy Duty Mechanic, or equivalent certification is preferred.
Previous experience repairing and maintaining heavy-duty trucks, trailers, or related equipment is strongly preferred.
Experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical systems in a heavy-duty environment is an asset.
A valid driver's license and the ability to safely operate or move heavy-duty equipment may be required.
Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
Experience working with heavy-duty truck and trailer systems, including engines, drivetrains, brakes, suspension, steering, and electrical systems.
Ability to use computerized diagnostic equipment, service manuals, and technical resources to identify and resolve equipment issues.
Strong understanding of safe work practices and preventative maintenance procedures.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to completing work correctly the first time.
Practical, hands-on problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues efficiently.
Dependable and safety-conscious approach to working in a fast-paced shop environment.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Self-motivated approach with a willingness to learn, develop new skills, and take on increasingly complex work.
