We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and motivated Legal Assistant/Law Clerk to join our family, wills and real estate law practice. This position provides comprehensive administrative and legal support to the managing lawyer, including file management, legal drafting, client communication, and case preparation. Key Responsibilities
- Draft, format, proofread, and revise legal documents, correspondence, pleadings, and reports.
- Conduct legal research.
- Maintain and organize electronic and physical client files while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with firm procedures.
- Assist with file and case management, including monitoring deadlines, preparing court materials, and organizing supporting documentation.
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate client and file records within the firm's document management systems.
- Coordinate appointments, meetings, court dates, and the managing lawyer's calendar.
- Communicate professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and third parties by telephone, email, and in person.
- Assist in preparing for client meetings, court appearances, mediations, and other legal proceedings.
- Prepare, file, and serve legal documents in accordance with court rules and applicable deadlines.
- Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence and ensure timely follow-up on client matters.
- Provide general administrative support and assist with special projects as required.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Law Clerk, Legal Assistant, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in a legal office is an asset but is not required.
- Strong proofreading, legal writing, and research skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel).
- Experience with Unity, DivorceMate, LEAP, or similar legal software is considered an asset.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a collaborative team.

Pay: $45,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
