About the Role
In this position, you will maintain a safe and secure environment by monitoring and patrolling assigned sites, controlling access, enforcing security procedures, and responding to incidents and emergencies. You will interact with employees, visitors, clients, and emergency responders while providing professional customer service and security support.
Key responsibilities include:
- Controlling access to facilities and issuing visitor passes when required.
- Directing and escorting visitors as appropriate.
- Conducting foot and vehicle patrols to deter theft, vandalism, trespassing, and fire hazards.
- Monitoring security systems and control-room equipment.
- Operating computers, mobile devices, and communication equipment.
- Utilizing clear radio communication and emergency procedures.
- Responding to alarms, emergencies, disturbances, and security incidents.
- Completing detailed reports and maintaining accurate documentation.
- Enforcing site regulations and assisting with conflict resolution.

What You Bring
- Valid Alberta Security License
- Valid First Aid & CPR Certification
- High School Diploma or GED
- Drivers License, Class 5
- Strong verbal, written, and reading comprehension skills in English
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities and sound judgment
- Attention to detail and strong report-writing skills
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn security technologies
- Ability to remain calm and professional in emergency situations
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to conduct regular foot patrols and climb or descend stairs
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively to incidents and emergencies
Working Conditions
- Indoor and outdoor work environments, including exposure to inclement weather
- Use of radios, surveillance systems, computers, and other security equipment
- Patrols, descending and ascending stairs
