Job Title: TIG Welder / Fabricator
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled TIG Welder / Fabricator to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating, fitting, assembling, and welding stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steel components according to engineering drawings and specifications. This role requires strong blueprint-reading skills, attention to detail, and the ability to produce high-quality welds while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders.
- Fabricate, fit, and assemble metal components according to specifications.
- Perform high-quality TIG welding on stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steel.
- Prepare materials by measuring, marking, cutting, grinding, and fitting components.
- Operate fabrication equipment such as band saws, shears, press brakes, drills, grinders, and other shop tools.
- Inspect welds and fabricated parts to ensure they meet quality standards and dimensional tolerances.
- Perform finishing operations, including grinding, polishing, and deburring.
- Set up welding equipment and adjust machine settings based on material type and thickness.
- Use measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, squares, and micrometers to verify dimensions.
- Perform fit-up and tack welding before final welding.
- Identify and correct welding defects or fabrication issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow company safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to complete projects on schedule.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2–5 years of TIG welding and metal fabrication experience (or as required).
- Proficient in TIG welding stainless steel; aluminum experience is an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
- Experience with layout, fitting, and assembly of fabricated components.
- Knowledge of welding symbols and fabrication processes.
- Experience using fabrication equipment and hand tools.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- CWB welding certification (asset).
- Experience in custom metal fabrication or manufacturing.
- Forklift or overhead crane experience (asset).
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in a manufacturing environment for extended periods.
- Comfortable working with welding equipment, power tools, and fabrication machinery.
- Ability to wear required PPE, including welding helmet, gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toe boots.
Pay: $20.00-$30.00 per hour
