Job Summary:
An Operator is required to ensure the safe, efficient operation, and cleaning of their machine(s). Responsible for the maintenance of prescribed quantity and quality of product produced. Tempering Oven Operators should be able to work with great concentration and precision to ensure that glass is tempered to prescribed standards. They must be responsible and comply with all safety guidelines. A keen eye for detail and great mechanical aptitude are also essential.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- A glass tempering operator will ensure that glass is tempered efficiently and effectively using a modern tempering oven
- Maintain shift log of production & competitive production numbers for daily goals
- Knowledge of and follow basic preventative maintenance procedures such as cleaning and lubricating equipment
· Run Test pieces and perform destructive tests on a regular daily basis to ensure tempering process is working properly
- Produce product with an emphasis on quality
- Load/Unload glass on conveyor of machine
- Supervise the machine while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result
- Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly
- Inspect, measure, and verify all specifications before glass enters the oven
- Provide feedback and maintenance requests to improve machine performance
- Participate in training and cross training, improvement initiatives including health and safety and quality improvement
- Adhere to all workplace safety policies, compliances, and regulations
- Use all required safety equipment, ex: Steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses / goggles, etc.
- Maintaining production quality-based companies’ criteria
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Experience with a tempering oven an asset
- Glass knowledge is an asset
- Must be good with computers and be able to pick up new software quickly
- Highly punctual
- Able to work as a functioning member of a team
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently in a busy environment
- Experience with routine maintenance operations
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent an asset
- Glass Tempering Oven experience preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Will entail prolonged periods of walking & standing
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis
- Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.
Job Types: Permanent, Full-time
Pay: $20.00-$26.00 per hour
