Duties
- Supervise daily warehouse operations including shipping, receiving, order picking, packaging, and load/unload activities to meet operational goals.
- Manage and coordinate heavy equipment operation such as forklifts, reach trucks, cranes, and other heavy machinery to ensure safe and efficient movement of goods.
- Oversee warehouse distribution processes utilizing warehouse management systems (WMS) and AS400 platforms for accurate inventory tracking and order fulfillment.
- Lead a team of warehouse associates by assigning tasks related to order fulfillment, heavy lifting, construction-related materials handling, and heavy equipment operation.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols by conducting regular inspections of equipment and work areas; enforce safe lifting techniques and proper use of machinery.
- Collaborate with shipping & receiving teams to verify shipments, process documentation, and maintain accurate records for all inbound and outbound goods.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying operational inefficiencies and implementing best practices in warehouse management.
Skills
- Proven experience in warehouse distribution with strong knowledge of warehouse operations including order picker functions, packaging, shipping & receiving procedures.
- Mechanical knowledge related to heavy equipment operation such as forklifts, reach trucks, cranes, and other machinery used in manufacturing or construction environments.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS), AS400 platforms, and inventory control software to streamline order fulfillment processes.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely while adhering to safety standards; experience with load & unload procedures is essential.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise teams engaged in order picking, heavy lifting, construction materials handling, and packaging tasks.
- Excellent organizational skills combined with attention to detail for managing inventory accuracy and shipment documentation.
- Physical capability for heavy lifting tasks; comfortable working in physically demanding environments involving construction or manufacturing materials.
