Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Youth Worker to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting and guiding young individuals, particularly those with disabilities, in their personal development and educational journeys. Your primary focus will be to create a safe and nurturing environment where children can thrive, learn, and grow.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to children and youth, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Develop and implement educational programs tailored to the needs of each child.
- Foster positive relationships with children, encouraging their social and emotional development.
- Collaborate with families, educators, and other professionals to create individualized plans for youth.
- Assist in organizing recreational activities that promote teamwork and personal growth.
- Educate children about various life skills, including communication, problem-solving, and decision-making.
- Maintain accurate records of progress and activities for each child.
- Advocate for the needs of children with disabilities within the community.
- Provide emotional support and guidance to children and youth facing various challenges.
- Create a safe and inclusive environment promoting positive behavior and healthy relationships.
- Document and maintain accurate records of client progress, incidents, and interventions.
- Maintain confidentiality standards at all times.
Skills
- Diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Early-Childhood Educator, Psychology, or a related field.
- Commitment to completing Certification in Safe Management Group Crisis Intervention (SMG)
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage daily tasks
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Discretion and sound judgment in a fast-paced residential environment
- Strong crisis management skills
- Valid G-Class driver’s license and insurance
- Current First Aid and CPR Level C certifications
- Satisfactory vulnerable sector police records check
- Basic computer skills
- Knowledge of and experience with current Quality Assurance legislation (QAM)
- Previous experience working with children and youth in a support-type capacity.
- Attend training as required.
Assets:
- Experience/Knowledge with Trauma-Informed Care, FASD, ASD, and behavior management techniques considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of the child welfare system and related experience.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and crisis intervention skills.
- Crisis training, safe management or TCI

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $22.00-$26.39 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
