Full Time Hours: Three 13 hr. shifts (with two 30 minute lunch breaks) Friday-Sunday. Pay rate based on experience.
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Amada Brake Press Operator with a minimum of 5 years of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operating Amada CNC brake presses, reading blueprints, performing quality checks, and ensuring precision in fabricated metal parts. This position requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Brake Press Operation
- Set up and operate Amada CNC brake press machines to bend, shape and form sheet metal according to blueprints and specifications.
- Load, align, and secure materials correctly to ensure accurate forming.
- Adjust machine settings (bend angles, back gauge positions, die clearances, and tool selections) for various material thicknesses and part requirements.
- Troubleshoot minor machine issues and perform regular maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
Quality Control & Inspection
- Conduct thorough first-piece, in-process, and final inspections to verify conformance with engineering drawings and customer specifications.
- Utilize precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, protractors, and other inspection equipment.
- Identify and document non-conforming parts and work with the quality team to resolve issues.
- Maintain accurate production and quality records to ensure compliance with company standards.
Blueprint & Technical Reading
- Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and work orders to determine machine setup and operation sequences.
- Understand GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) and apply it to ensure accurate part production.
Safety & Efficiency
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Work efficiently to meet production deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding production status and issues.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 5 years of experience operating an Amada CNC brake press or similar brake press machines.
- Proficient in setting up, adjusting, and troubleshooting brake press machines.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
- Experience with precision measuring tools and ability to conduct quality checks.
- Understanding of material properties, bend allowances, and machine capabilities.
- Familiarity with basic CNC programming for brake press adjustments (preferred but not required).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift materials up to 50lbs.
- Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Education & Certifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certification in metal fabrication is a plus.
- Forklift certification (preferred but not required)
