Position: Korean Outreach Service Worker

Compensation: $18.86 -$23.58 Hourly

Position Summary:
Responsible for outreaching low-income, ethno-cultural communities and faith groups, and supporting the delivery of all health promotion activities and initiatives especially among Korean seniors’ community
Responsibilities:
- Assists in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of health promotion program activities.
- Makes contact and develops connections with ethno-cultural communities and faith groups through ethnic media, community and cultural events, Interactive displays to raise awareness of health and wellness activities and encourage participation.
- Conducts workshops to promote healthy aging, active and independent living, and seniors’ safety in appropriate language using culturally sensitive approach as outlined in the project team training.
- Supports older adults and seniors’ active community participation by organizing in person and virtual activities including walking groups, trips to local events, fresh fruit, and vegetable markets, etc. and providing translation and interpretation as needed.
- Other responsibilities as needed.
Education:
- Post-secondary education in health and community services, related field and/or relevant experience.
Skills & Experience:
- Bilingual in English and Korean are required (Read & Write)
- Work or volunteer experience with and knowledge of ethno-cultural and marginalized communities.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically, Word and Excel
- Ability to commute between SPLC locations in Scarborough at least twice a week.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge and experience with healthy active outreach, and seniors’ health issues and asset
- Excellent communication skills delivered in an empathetic and caring manner.
- Valid Driver’s License asset
