We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Food Science graduate for a 3-month project within our Quality Assurance (QA) team. This role focuses on creating, reviewing, and editing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to food safety, quality, and production processes.
This is a great opportunity for recent graduates from a Post secondary Food Science Program or other related fields.
As an integral member of our QA and production teams, you will work alongside QA professionals, supervisors, and operators to develop SOPs that are clear, accurate, and aligned with both regulatory and company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop QA SOPs: Draft and format new SOPs related to food safety, quality control, and production hygiene practices.
- Documentation Review and Data Gathering: Assess current SOPs for regulatory compliance, clarity, and operational relevance. Support the review of production records and QA data collection.
- Edit and Standardize: Refine language and format to ensure documents are easy to understand and consistent.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with QA staff, production supervisors, and frontline employees to validate procedures.
- Visual Aids Integration: Enhance SOP usability with photos, diagrams, or flowcharts.
- Compliance Focus: Ensure SOPs meet requirements under CFIA, Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR), FDA, USDA, HACCP and GFSI-recognized standards (e.g., BRCGS).
- Documentation Management: Maintain version control and organization of QA documentation within internal systems.
- Contribute to Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement projects
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Food Science or a related field
- Strong writing skills with an ability to translate technical food safety and production information into clear procedures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel); familiarity with QA or document control software is an asset.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working in cross-functional teams.
- Interest in the bakery and food manufacturing industry.
