Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide general direction and instructions to the sanitation team based on input from the Sanitation Manager following plant Master Cleaning Schedule
- Aid in employee development such as hiring, training, work assignment, coaching/counselling and performance evaluation.
- Ensure effective communication within the team and other departments.
- Inspect areas at start of shift to help identify unusual issues that will need to be addressed by sanitation during the shift
- Report any areas of spills or issues that will require extra time to address to Sanitation Supervisors
- Perform general industrial cleaning in production areas including walls, floors, equipment, locker rooms, lunch/break rooms, washrooms
- May work in confined spaces once trained and authorized
- Take inventory of sanitation supplies, order refills as needed

Physical Requirements:
- Must stand, walk for prolonged periods of time, climb stairs
- Regularly required to bend, stoop, reach
- Lift more than 50 lbs. on an occasional basis
- Work in manufacturing production environment – daily exposure to noise, variation of temperature – heat/cold
Safety, Quality and Hygiene Requirements:
- Ensure tools and equipment are in good working order; report any defective materials, missing or damaged tools to supervisor
- Comply with all legislated and relevant laws and regulations for safety and quality including lockout tag out, GMP’s, HACCP, Allergen and Blommer specific policies and procedures
- Must wear uniform, steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, hair net, beard net, safety gear specific to work activity, when on plant floor
Skills and Work Experience Requirements:
- Employee must be able to accomplish the Essential Duties and Responsibilities to be competent in the job
- Basic use of electronic tablet for recording data
- High level of proficiency with current software such as Microsoft Office. Power point, Excel and email. Ability to adapt to and quickly learn new software and possess the ability to conduct presentations.
- Able to read and write English to complete paperwork
- Self-motivated, hardworking and confident with both technical and human resource skills. Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 3 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment in a leadership position. Completion of high school is required with post-secondary education preferred. Knowledge of Federal regulations and Government sanitation guidelines is essential; average computer, communication and organizational skills is mandatory, experience in a continuous improvement environment with a significant knowledge base in the areas of: Lean and 5S are optional.
- This position is an hourly position at a range between $ 23 to $26/hour
