What You’ll Be Doing
Performing monthly, semi-annual, and annual generator services and load bank testing as per CSA C282 requirements and performing repairs and diagnostics as needed. Knowledge and skills related to pulling trailers are required, but training will be provided. Knowledge of diesel and gas engines is required, and generator experience is preferred.
- Work independently and alongside other team members to attend planned and emergency service calls.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems with standby generators.
- Work on a variety of power-generation, drive, and electrical systems, such as generator sets of all makes, variable frequency drives, automatic transfer switches, and e-houses.
- Complete online reports for all service work daily and relay them to managers.
Requirements:
Previous experience with engine and generator diagnostics and repairs is required:
- DC electrical system diagnostics
- Standby generator experience
- Generator load testing and voltage regulator experience
- High-level engine diagnostics on both electronic and mechanical engines
- EGSA certification would be a significant asset (Electrical Generating Systems Association)
- Familiarity with switchgear and controls
NOTE: Candidates must hold a valid driver’s licence, maintain a clean driving record, and be willing to provide a driver’s abstract.
- Flexibility to work out of town as needed
- Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills in English
- Computer proficiency with strong knowledge of MS Office and communication tools, including texting, Teams, and Outlook
- Occasional project-based travel, with mutual consideration toward work-life balance
- Eventual inclusion in the after-hours on-call rotation, usually every four to six weeks
- Ability to follow the maintenance program as instructed without deviation
- A Police, RCMP fingerprint, or OPP check may be required based on individual customer requirements. However, if you are qualified in most other respects, we will find room for you.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ensure all Health and Safety policies and procedures are followed and participate in regular H&S training as required.
