We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Furniture CAD & Production Designer to support the development and manufacturing of custom upholstered furniture. This role bridges digital design with production, combining AutoCAD drafting, CNC file preparation, and laser cutting workflows to support our manufacturing team.
The ideal candidate is technically skilled, production-minded, and comfortable working both on a computer and within a production environment. Experience in furniture manufacturing, millwork, product design, or fabrication is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop upholstered furniture frame files using AutoCAD
- Develop and edit production-ready CAD drawings for sofas, sectionals, beds, ottomans, and other upholstered furniture for custom widths and configurations
- Produce accurate technical drawings and digital production files to support manufacturing workflows
- Prepare CNC-ready files for wood cutting and machining
- Prepare laser cutting files for upholstery fabrics, templates, and pattern pieces
- Upload and organize laser cutting files for production
- Oversee laser cutting processes during operation to ensure accuracy and efficiency
- Coordinate with framing, upholstery, and sewing departments to ensure production feasibility and accuracy
- Assist in troubleshooting construction challenges during prototyping and production
- Review and revise production drawings based on shop feedback and manufacturing improvements
- Maintain organized digital production files and revision control systems
- Support custom furniture modifications while maintaining structural integrity and production efficiency
- Assist in production sequencing and workflow coordination to support manufacturing efficiency
Technical Skills & Software Experience
- AutoCAD experience required
- Experience with CNC workflow software such as Vectric Cut2D Pro considered an asset
- Familiarity with DXF file preparation and nesting workflows considered an asset
- Understanding of laser cutting workflows and production file setup considered an asset
- Understanding of furniture construction methods and upholstery requirements
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and production specifications
Preferred Experience
- Furniture manufacturing, millwork, fabrication, or product design experience
- Knowledge of production workflow systems and manufacturing coordination
- Experience working within custom manufacturing environments

Additional Information
- Part-time to full-time hours available depending on experience and production workload. We are currently looking for someone available 3–4 days per week, with the opportunity to grow into 5 days depending on workload and experience.
- Compensation range: approximately $28–35/hour depending on experience
- Portfolio demonstrating CAD drafting, technical drawing, or production-oriented design work preferred
Pay: $28.00-$35.00 per hour
