To be eligible for this position, you must meet the participant requirements under the Canada Summer Jobs Agreement with as outlined:
- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
What you'll get to do:
Work in collaboration with CCS Family Literacy Worker to plan, develop and deliver youth-centred and appropriate activities for younger and school-age newcomers.- Conduct needs analysis to identify needs of vulnerable newcomer children (school-age).
- Identify and compile related community and digital resources to support and facilitate learning, such as cultural and traditional forms of teaching kids through reading materials and resources.
- Help develop and implement Youth summer activities to support a rich learning and development experience for newcomers in the LINC program over the summer months.
- Assist with and lead youth activities under the supervision of the Family Literacy Worker.

What you need to know/have:
- Ability to work with diverse teams.
- Knowledge and understanding of language barriers and challenges faced by newcomers.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills for efficient program design.
- Demonstrate professionalism and appropriate work ethics in alignment with CCS core values.
- Contribute to the fast‐paced teaching and learning environment in support of youth development of acceptable behaviour for social integration and adaptation in community and school.
Location: Mississauga, ON
Hours: 35 per week, occasional weekends and evenings may be required.
Compensation: $17.60 per hour
