Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Cleaning Manager to lead and work alongside our facilities maintenance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for both performing and overseeing cleanliness and safety standards across various facilities, ensuring a consistently high level of hygiene and presentation. This role requires strong leadership and organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to manage scheduling, coordinate with head office, and roll up their sleeves alongside the team on a daily basis. Prior supervisory experience in custodial or facilities maintenance is required, along with demonstrated knowledge of commercial cleaning tools, techniques, and safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Perform thorough cleaning of commercial spaces using appropriate cleaning supplies and equipment
- Oversee and support team members, providing direction and guidance on daily tasks
- Maintain a clean, organized work environment and report any maintenance needs or safety hazards
- Conduct site walkthroughs to ensure quality standards are consistently met
- Manage and coordinate team scheduling, ensuring adequate coverage across all shifts
- Communicate regularly with head office regarding operations, staffing updates, and any site issues
- Maintain cleaning machines, tools, and other custodial equipment safely and effectively
- Follow and enforce established cleaning protocols to ensure compliance with health and safety standards
Qualifications
- Previous custodial or commercial cleaning experience required; prior supervisory or team lead experience strongly preferred
- Proficiency in using commercial cleaning equipment and tools
- Strong organizational and scheduling skills to coordinate team workflow efficiently
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical tasks regularly throughout the shift
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with team members, clients, and head office
- Reliable work ethic with a high attention to detail and safety standards
- Ability to work both independently and lead a team, balancing hands-on work with managerial responsibilities
