Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Facilities Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance, repair, and operation of building systems and facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for preventative and corrective maintenance activities, HVAC servicing, general repairs, and ensuring facilities remain safe, functional, and energy efficient.
This role is ideal for an individual with a strong background in HVAC systems and general building maintenance who enjoys solving practical problems and working across multiple trades.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on HVAC equipment, including split units, packaged systems, ventilation equipment, and associated controls.
- Diagnose and repair faults in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and mechanical systems.
- Conduct routine inspections of building systems and recommend repairs or replacements.
- Perform general handyman duties including:
- Minor plumbing repairs
- Installation of LED light bulbs, faucet aerators and energy effiecient devices
- Take measurements with equipment provided
- Drywall and painting repairs
- Door, lock, and hardware repairs
- Furniture assembly and repairs
- Basic carpentry
- Minor masonry and concrete patching
- Lighting fixture replacement
- General electrical repairs within competency
- Carry out preventative maintenance, monitoring and measurements on pumps, motors, fans, lighting, generators, and other building equipment.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repairs.
- Assist with equipment installations, relocations, and commissioning activities.
- Maintain maintenance records, inspection reports, and work orders.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety requirements.
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors when specialized repairs are required.
QualificationsEducation
- Diploma or Certificate in HVAC, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Building Services, Facilities Maintenance, or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
Experience
- Minimum of three years of experience in facilities maintenance or building operations.
- Proven experience servicing and maintaining commercial HVAC systems.
- Experience performing general building maintenance and handyman repairs.
- Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Experience using power tools, testing instruments, and maintenance equipment.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and preventative maintenance practices.
- Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general building systems.
- Ability to read equipment manuals, maintenance drawings, and technical documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices.
Preferred Qualifications
The following certifications or experience would be considered an asset:
- HVAC/Refrigeration Technician Certification
- Refrigerant Handling Certification
- Building Operator Certification (BOC)
- IPMVP, LEED, or other building efficiency certification
- Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS)
- Experience supporting energy efficiency or sustainability projects

Pay: $22.00-$35.00 per hour
