We are a structural steel company seeking a reliable and experienced Shipper/Receiver for Structural Steel to assist yard and material handling operations. Our team is committed to quality, efficiency, and safety in all aspects of steel fabrication and distribution. This is a Full Time, Permanent position.
Position Summary:
The Shipping/Receiving role will be responsible for assisting all incoming and outgoing materials, maintaining yard organization, and ensuring accurate inventory control. This role is critical to keeping operations running smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive incoming shipments and verify contents against purchase orders
- Unload and unpack materials from delivery trucks
- Inspect shipments and record any damages or discrepancies
- Sort and organize materials in designated storage areas
- Prepare outgoing shipments by picking, packing, and labeling orders
- Ensure accuracy in order fulfillment and maintain proper documentation
- Operate forklift and/or crane to move and store materials safely
- Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts and stock checks
- Collaborate with team members to improve warehouse and yard operations
Qualifications & Skills:
- Previous experience in shipping/receiving or warehouse operations
- Proficiency in operating a forklift (crane experience is an asset)
- Familiarity with distribution processes and best practices
- Strong attention to detail and basic math skills
- Ability to safely package materials to prevent damage in transit
- Physically capable of lifting and handling heavy materials
- Strong knowledge of structural steel shapes and materials
