At Lufa Farms, we’re on a mission to build a better food system. This led us to build the world’s first commercial rooftop greenhouse in 2011, followed by the world’s largest less than a decade later. With five urban farms (and counting!) producing year-round, we’re looking for a motivated individual to become our Facilities Manager and level up our current maintenance team and processes for all of our facilities.
Our ideal candidate has at least five years of experience in facilities management, including more than three years leading a team in a multi-site organization. They know commercial electro-mechanical systems inside and out (refrigeration and freezers, conveyors, and related equipment) along with general electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and sprinkler systems. They're used to juggling multiple landlords and internal stakeholders, and they manage both Capex and Opex budgets with confidence. Above all, they're an organized, hands-on problem solver who keeps things running in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
Responsibilities
Ensure the safe, reliable, efficient operation of all facilities (greenhouses, distribution centre, and offices) and resolve critical issues quickly;
Develop preventive and predictive maintenance programs that maximize uptime, extend asset life, and improve operating costs;
Coordinate the maintenance team's daily activities with site managers and prioritize requests by operational impact, safety, and business needs;
Review completed work orders for quality and compliance, and track KPIs like uptime, PM compliance, response time, and backlog;
Manage contractors, service providers, and vendors, supervising on-site work for safety, schedule, budget, and quality;
Support improvement, renovation, and capital projects end to end, coordinating stakeholders and tracking schedules, budgets, and risks;
Ensure compliance with building codes, electrical and mechanical standards, environmental regulations, and safety requirements;
Maintain facility documentation, permits, and inspection records;
Maintain an accurate inventory of assets and critical spare parts, and plan equipment lifecycle and replacement;
Prepare and manage the annual maintenance and facilities budget, and find cost savings without compromising reliability or safety;
Lead and develop the maintenance team (resourcing, hiring, training, and performance)while fostering accountability and continuous improvement;
Manage the CMMS (e.g., MaintainX) and analyze failure trends to find root causes and drive lasting fixes.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, Industrial, or Facilities Engineering (or equivalent experience);
Organized and able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment;
At least three years of experience successfully managing maintenance activities for complex facilities;
At least three years experience building and leading a multidisciplinary team;
Strong knowledge of electro-mechanics and equipment;
Excels at stakeholder management;
Innovative problem-solver;
Knowledge of national and provincial building codes and health and safety regulations;
Experience developing facility maintenance protocols and procedures;
Comfortable using Google Suite, MaintainX and inventory management softwares;
Driver’s license and willingness to travel to multiple sites throughout the week;
Bilingual (English and French).

Schedule
Full-time (five days on-site) with time outside regular hours or on weekends expected.

Salary to be determined based on the experience and knowledge of the candidate;
