The Cook is responsible for planning and preparing nutritious meals and snacks for approximately 32 children each day. This role plays an important part in supporting children's health, growth, and well-being while ensuring all food is prepared and served safely.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve healthy meals and snacks in accordance with Canada's Food Guide and childcare regulations.
- Plan menus that meet the nutritional needs of young children.
- Accommodate food allergies, sensitivities, and dietary restrictions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment.
- Follow all food safety and safe food handling procedures.
- Monitor and maintain food inventory and kitchen supplies.
- Receive and properly store food deliveries.
- Complete required cleaning and temperature logs.
- Work independently while maintaining communication with childcare staff.
Qualifications:
- Food Safety Certification (required).
- First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Experience preparing meals for groups is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
Pay: $16.35-$18.00 per hour
