Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and people-focused Manager, People & Culture to lead all aspects of human resources for our heavy equipment parts, sales, service, and repair operations.
The Manager, People & Culture will be responsible for developing and maintaining effective people practices that support business growth, employee engagement, workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. This position will work closely with management and department leaders across Parts, Service, Sales, Operations, and Administration to attract, develop, retain, and support a high-performing workforce.
The ideal candidate understands the unique demands of a heavy equipment environment, including skilled trades, technicians, parts personnel, field service employees, warehouse operations, and administrative staff.
Key Responsibilities
Human Resources Leadership
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with company objectives.
- Provide HR guidance and support to managers and supervisors.
- Establish consistent policies, procedures, and employment practices.
- Serve as a trusted resource for employees and leadership.
- Promote a positive, respectful, and accountable workplace culture.
Recruitment & Workforce Planning
- Manage full-cycle recruitment for technicians, mechanics, parts personnel, service advisors, field service employees, sales staff, and administrative positions.
- Develop effective recruitment strategies for skilled and hard-to-fill positions.
- Coordinate interviews, reference checks, offers, and onboarding.
- Develop workforce plans based on business growth, turnover, and operational requirements.
- Build relationships with trade schools, technical institutions, and industry organizations.
Employee Relations
- Address employee concerns, workplace conflicts, performance issues, and disciplinary matters.
- Coach managers on effective communication and employee management.
- Conduct and document workplace investigations when required.
- Promote fair, consistent, and respectful treatment of employees.
- Support conflict resolution and corrective-action processes.
Performance Management
- Develop and administer employee performance management programs.
- Establish clear job descriptions, performance expectations, and accountability standards.
- Coordinate annual and ongoing performance reviews.
- Assist managers with performance improvement plans.
- Identify high-potential employees and succession opportunities.
Compensation & Benefits
- Manage compensation programs and ensure internal pay equity.
- Conduct wage and salary reviews using relevant industry and market information.
- Administer employee benefits programs.
- Monitor overtime, vacation, leave, and attendance practices.
- Support payroll processes and ensure accurate employee information.
Training & Development
- Identify training requirements across the organization.
- Coordinate technical, leadership, safety, compliance, and professional-development programs.
- Develop onboarding and orientation programs.
- Support technician and apprenticeship development.
- Establish career-development and succession-planning initiatives.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Work closely with management and safety personnel to promote a safe workplace.
- Support compliance with applicable employment standards, occupational health and safety legislation, and other regulatory requirements.
- Maintain required employee documentation and records.
- Assist with workplace incidents, investigations, and return-to-work processes.
- Promote a strong safety culture throughout shop, warehouse, field-service, and office environments.
HR Policies & Procedures
- Develop, maintain, and communicate employee policies and procedures.
- Ensure HR practices remain compliant with applicable provincial and federal legislation.
- Maintain confidential personnel records.
- Develop employee handbooks and HR documentation.
- Regularly review HR processes for efficiency and consistency.
Employee Engagement & Culture
- Develop initiatives that improve employee engagement, retention, and morale.
- Conduct employee feedback and engagement activities.
- Recognize employee achievements and contributions.
- Promote teamwork and communication between Parts, Service, Sales, and Operations.
- Help build a culture based on safety, accountability, respect, customer service, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in an industrial, automotive, heavy equipment, manufacturing, construction, or service environment.
- 3+ years direct management experience.
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation and workplace practices.
- Experience managing employee relations and workplace investigations.
- Experience recruiting skilled trades and technical personnel is an asset.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Proficiency with HRIS, payroll, Microsoft Office, and related systems.
- CPHR designation or working toward designation is considered an asset.

Pay: $100,000.00-$125,000.00 per year
