Express Employment Professionals is recruiting on behalf of a well-established, growing, multi-entity organization in Abbotsford, BC.
Our client is seeking an experienced Operations Accountant who enjoys working in a hands-on operational environment where accounting, inventory, costing, and financial analysis are critical to business performance. This opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives on accuracy, problem-solving, process improvement, and cross-departmental collaboration.
What You'll Do
Accounts Payable Leadership
- Oversee full cycle accounts payable processes
- Review invoices for accuracy, coding, approvals, and compliance with company policies
- Validate invoices against contracts and purchase orders
- Resolve invoice discrepancies and vendor issues
- Manage weekly payment processing including EFTs, wire transfers, and cheque runs
- Maintain accurate vendor records and documentation
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Perform monthly reconciliations including intercompany accounts, accruals, commissions, and general ledger accounts
- Prepare and validate month end accruals
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year end financial reporting
- Support audits and financial reviews
- Ensure accounting records are accurate, complete, and audit ready
Inventory & Operational Accounting
- Perform inventory reconciliations and support inventory reporting
- Analyze inventory related transactions and balance sheet accounts
- Support costing analysis and operational accounting functions
- Investigate discrepancies and identify root causes
- Contribute to process improvements and stronger internal controls
Team & Business Support
- Collaborate with operations, purchasing, and management teams
- Support the Controller with special projects and financial analysis
- Participate in cross training and provide backup support within the accounting team
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and streamline processes
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience working in a multi company or multi entity environment preferred
- Experience working within a manufacturing, agriculture, food processing, or production environment is strongly preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Enrolled in or completed the CPA program
- Strong understanding of inventory accounting, costing methodologies, and operational accounting
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP is considered an asset
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem solving abilities
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment

Pay: $70,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
