Position Overview
We are currently hiring a full-time Project Accountant to provide essential support to our corporate finance team. This newly created role reports directly to the CFO, offering broad professional exposure and the unique opportunity to participate in all facets of accounting and finance. Key Responsibilities
- Project Costing: Set up, maintain, and close out construction projects in the financial system.
- Budget Tracking: Monitor project expenditures, labour costs, and sub-contracts against active budgets.
- Modern Invoices Processing: Process progress billings and supplier invoices using our modern, AI-empowered platform.
- Reconciliations: Perform monthly reconciliations for bank statements, credit card statements, and vendor accounts.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial reports for our active construction projects.
- PM Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Project Managers to monitor budgets and strictly control costs.
- Payroll Processing: Manage and process payroll for a growing team of 30+ employees.
- Government Compliance: Prepare and submit essential filings, including Payroll Taxes, GST, EHT, T5018, and WCB returns.
- Internal Controls: Ensure strict compliance with Canadian accounting regulations, standards, and internal company processes.
- Executive Support: Handle ad-hoc financial planning and reporting tasks as required by the CFO and senior management.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 3+ years of professional accounting experience, ideally within the Canadian Construction & Real Estate industry.
- Designation: Enrollment in or completion of the CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) designation is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills: Proven proficiency with Sage accounting software and advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
- Analysis: Strong attention to detail paired with robust analytical skills.
- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across internal teams.
