RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build and lead a strong, collaborative team of Machine Operators and Maintenance Technicians, with clear ownership of equipment performance and loss elimination. Partner closely with Customer Engineering and CI to identify and drive closure of downtime and speed losses, ensuring sustainable improvements across all lines.
- Supervise the assembly, troubleshooting, and operation of filling, packaging, sealing, weighing, and automated production equipment on a day-to-day basis, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operation.
- Promote and enforce all safety policies and procedures, including Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), and maintain a strong safety culture across the maintenance team.
- Coordinate and provide both scheduled and emergency repairs of production equipment, ensuring minimal disruption to operations and rapid restoration of uptime.
- Drive daily connection with all three shift technicians and machine operators to review performance, identify downtime and speed losses across all lines, and align on clear actions to close gaps.
- Lead daily and weekly review of OEE losses, with a focus on speed and downtime drivers across both automated and manual lines, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions are executed.
- Own and manage the CMMS , including reviewing, updating, assigning, and closing work orders daily, and ensuring preventative maintenance tasks are completed effectively.
- Ensure all quality-related issues (QC captures) are converted into work orders or PM activities and assigned and tracked daily through to closure.
- Maintain accuracy of maintenance tracking tools including Smartsheet by adding required parts, tracking orders, and updating status upon receipt
- Coordinate sourcing and procurement of maintenance parts, including working with external vendors to ensure timely availability of critical components.
- Plan, assign, and execute preventative maintenance activities, ensuring high compliance and effectiveness across all equipment.
- Oversee calibration compliance for all critical equipment, including annual calibration of scales and X-ray machines.
- Ensure preventative maintenance is completed on critical utilities such as compressors (every 6 to 12 months) and aligned with operational requirements.
- Assign maintenance operators to dedicated lines on a weekly basis to ensure ownership, accountability, and equipment performance stability.
- Support hiring, onboarding, and development of maintenance operators, including building structured training plans to ensure coverage across all shifts.
- Train technicians and operators on equipment operation, troubleshooting, and standard work to improve overall capability and response time.
- Prepare and deliver daily operational summaries for the 3 PM meeting based on prior 24-hour performance, including key issues, actions, and follow-ups.
- Maintain and update automated line runtime tracking daily to ensure accurate reporting of equipment utilization, downtime, and performance losses.
- Provide clear daily communication to stakeholders on maintenance activities, issues, risks, and priorities impacting operations.
- Develop and maintain work instructions and training documentation to support standardization and continuous improvement.
- Lead weekly alignment meetings with the Customer team to review top equipment issues, PM completion, ongoing projects, new requirements, and resource needs.
- Daily communication and alignment with Customer Engineering, CI, and Planning teams to coordinate, schedule, and execute tests, validations, and production runs in a structured manner, ensuring clear objectives, documentation, and follow-through.
- Work with outside contractors and cross-functional teams to ensure completion of maintenance activities, projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain 5S standards within maintenance areas and ensure proper use and accountability of all tools and equipment.
EDUCATION
- Post-secondary technical education in a maintenance or engineering-related field preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a maintenance supervisory role.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Strong mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting experience.
- Working knowledge of PLC systems and automated packaging equipment.
- Experience with CMMS systems and maintenance planning (Limble would be an Asset).
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and schematics.
- Experience supervising teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
