· Performs general day-to-day maintenance of public, Guest and operational areas.
Seasonal Maintenance / Porter
Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Seasonal Maintenance/Porter to help maintain our resort's grounds, guest amenities, and outdoor facilities while delivering exceptional guest service.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of resort grounds, beach, patios, pool, and common areas.
- Empty garbage, collect litter, water flowers, and clean outdoor furniture.
- Monitor and maintain the pool area, including water testing and general upkeep.
- Assist guests with kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, luggage, and other resort amenities.
- Prepare and maintain evening bonfires, fire tables, and outdoor sauna.
- Restock firewood and monitor outdoor equipment and supplies.
- Perform basic maintenance inspections and report repairs or safety concerns.
- Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to guest requests.
- Assist other departments, including the kitchen, when operational needs require.
Qualifications
- Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic with attention to detail.
- Friendly, professional, and guest-focused attitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Evening, weekend, and holiday availability required.
- Previous maintenance, landscaping, or hospitality experience is considered an asset.
· Responsible for the interior and exterior upkeep of the property, including landscaping.
· Performs general repairs and overall maintenance to plumbing, electrical equipment and mechanical equipment.
· Responsible for the general outdoor maintenance.
· Responsible for maintaining pool cleanliness and pool balancing.
· Responsible to respond to guest requests in a timely and professional manner.
· As hotel operations are 24 house this may require on call hours
· Having a thorough knowledge of The Inn of Waterloo products and services.
· Actively seeking ways to meet guests’ product or service needs.
· Actively lead the Preventative Maintenance Program
· Active role in the JH&S program
· Any and all other tasks as assigned
Professional Requirements:
· Minimum three (3) years experience in all phases of building maintenance is required as well as electrical, plumbing and carpentry.
· Experience in a hospitality environment an asset.
· Experience with painting, wallpapering, and gardening & lawn equipment.
· Certified Pool Operator is an asset.
· Possesses maintenance troubleshooting ability.
· General mechanical and technical knowledge.
Physical Challenges
· May require some standing for long periods of time, heavy lifting and manual labour.
· Ability to excel in fast paced and high stress work environment.
· May work with hazardous materials such as pool chemicals.
