Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and personable Veterinary Receptionist to join our team. This role is essential in delivering exceptional support to our clients, ensuring their needs are met with compassion, empathy and respect. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a customer-focused attitude, and the ability to handle multiple tasks effectively.
Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome clients and their pets with warmth and professionalism.
- Team Communication: Relay messages accurately, inform team members of client/patient arrival and provide necessary background information.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients about their pets' needs, collaborating with team members to provide accurate information.
- Schedule and confirm appointments efficiently.
- Create and maintain patient/client files in the clinic’s software, ensuring confidentiality.
- Manage incoming phone calls and emails, addressing client inquiries and directing them to the appropriate team members.
- Check patients in, weigh and set up in an exam room.
- Check out patients- explain medications, information and process payments.
- Keep examination rooms, the front desk and reception area tidy and disinfect when needed.
- Fill prescriptions when needed.
Skills/Requirements
- Excellent communication skills , with strong phone etiquette.
- Must enjoy working with both people and pets.
- Ability to work well in a team environment while managing multiple tasks efficiently.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to handle difficult situations professionally.
- Ability to follow instructions and pay attention to detail.
- Full time: 40 hours/week, including some evening and Saturday daytime shifts.
- Ability to work in a high-pressure, busy work environment.
- Physical demands include lifting up to 40 lbs and being on your feet most of the day.
