Position Summary
Reporting to the Shop Foreman, the Welder is responsible for repairing, maintaining, and fabricating components for trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, and various fleet assets. The successful candidate will ensure equipment is safe, roadworthy, and operational before being released back to service.
This position requires a strong commitment to quality workmanship, safety, and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Perform welding and fabrication using MIG, TIG, Stick, Arc, and other welding methods.
- Repair and fabricate components for trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment.
- Operate welding equipment, grinders, chop saws, and various hand and power tools.
- Inspect completed welds to ensure quality standards are met.
- Maintain welding equipment and tools.
- Communicate repairs completed and document work performed.
- Work closely with mechanics, fabricators, and shop personnel.
- Follow company safety procedures and policies.
- Ensure equipment is fully operational before returning it to service.
Qualifications
- Previous welding experience in an industrial, heavy equipment, transportation, or manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with MIG, TIG, Stick, and Arc welding techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong understanding of welding safety and material properties.
- Welding certification is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Class 5 Driver’s License required.
- Ability to operate a service truck and travel on oilfield roads when required.
Working Conditions
- Shop environment with occasional outdoor work.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
- Standing and working on the shop floor for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to crawl, kneel, and work underneath equipment when required.
- Participation in an on-call rotation may be required.
Schedule
- Monday to Friday
- 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- On-call rotation as required
