About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Impact, the General Manager provides strategic and operational leadership across hospitality and guest services while ensuring operational excellence, financial sustainability, regulatory compliance, and a culture where health and safety comes first.
You will oversee accommodations, food & beverage, recreation, maintenance, and guest services while partnering closely with our Events Team and colleagues across Alberta to deliver exceptional experiences and organizational success.
What You'll Do
Hospitality & Guest Experience
- Champion exceptional guest experiences across all operations.
- Maintain consistent hospitality and brand standards.
- Respond to guest feedback and drive continuous service improvements.
- Foster a culture where every team member contributes to memorable guest experiences.
Operational Leadership
- Lead day-to-day operations across accommodations, maintenance, recreation, and food & beverage.
- Ensure high standards of cleanliness, maintenance, safety, and service.
- Develop operational policies and procedures.
- Monitor operational performance and implement continuous improvements.
Financial Management
- Develop and manage operating budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor occupancy, revenue, expenses, and financial performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
- Manage vendor relationships and approve expenditures.
Team Leadership
- Recruit, mentor, coach, and develop department leaders.
- Build an engaged, collaborative, and accountable workplace culture.
- Support employee development, succession planning, and performance management.
- Partner with Human Resources on employee relations and workforce planning.
Recreation & Program Growth
- Expand recreation, camp, and educational programming.
- Develop strategies to increase school and group bookings.
- Evaluate programs to meet evolving guest needs and market trends.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with Events, Sales, and Marketing teams to maximize occupancy and guest satisfaction.
- Build relationships with tourism organizations, community partners, and event planners.
- Promote collaboration across our Kananaskis, Calgary, Edmonton, and remote teams.
Governance, Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with legislation, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
- Lead health, safety, food safety, emergency preparedness, and risk management initiatives.
- Maintain operational standards while promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
What You Bring
- Degree or diploma in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Tourism, or a related field (preferred).
- 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in hospitality, hotel, resort, or multi-department operations.
- Proven success managing budgets, operations, guest services, and large teams.
- Strong financial management and business planning skills.
- Experience leading operational excellence, compliance, accreditation, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and relationship-building abilities.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation, food safety, and risk management.
- A hands-on leadership style with strategic vision and operational expertise.

Working Conditions
- Based onsite at Camp Horizon in Kananaskis
- Regular walking and movement throughout the property.
- Evening, weekend, holiday, and occasional on-call work required.
