Role Summary
Owns the TrueTenant application end to end — backend services, database, integrations, and frontend — and carries security responsibility for a system that stores regulated personal data. This is the most senior of our current engineering hires.
Must-Have Qualifications
Experience: 4+ years (senior preferred) shipping production web applications end to end, ideally in a startup where you owned features solo from design to deploy.
Core stack: Strong in one modern backend (Node/TypeScript, Python, or PHP/Laravel) plus React or Vue on the frontend; solid SQL schema design and query optimization.
Integrations: Proven third-party API integration work — this is the heart of the product: credit bureaus, ID/document verification, payments (Stripe), e-signature, transactional email/SMS.
Security engineering: OAuth/session management, encryption at rest and in transit, secure upload and storage of identity documents, audit logging, least-privilege access. Non-negotiable given the data involved.
DevOps: CI/CD pipelines, cloud hosting (AWS/GCP or equivalent), automated backups, monitoring and alerting.
Quality: Writes tests for payment and data-handling paths; leaves systems documented well enough for the next hire.
Nice to Have
Experience calling AI/ML APIs for document parsing, OCR, or fraud detection.
SOC 2, ISO 27001, or comparable compliance-audit experience.
Comfort with PHP/MySQL on shared hosting.
