Knelsen Sand & Gravel Ltd. is one of Alberta's trusted road construction contractors, building and maintaining transportation infrastructure across the province. We are looking for an experienced Excavator Operator to join our Grande Prairie-based crew.
This is an excellent opportunity for an operator who enjoys working with a strong team, takes pride in quality work, and is comfortable running multiple types of equipment when needed.
What You'll Do
As a key member of our road construction crew, you will primarily operate an excavator while supporting the team on other equipment as project demands require.
Responsibilities include:
- Excavation, trenching, ditching, and material placement
- Installing and backfilling drainage and utility systems
- Operating additional equipment such as skid steers, mini hoes, packers, and graders as required
- Assisting with base construction, grading, and site preparation
- Loading, moving, and placing aggregates and construction materials
- Conducting daily equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance
- Working safely and efficiently to achieve production targets
What We're Looking For
- Experience operating excavators in road construction, civil construction, or earthworks
- Ability to safely operate multiple pieces of heavy equipment
- Strong understanding of grading, drainage, and excavation practices
- Reliable, safety-focused, and able to work well in a team environment
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence
- Willingness to travel to project sites throughout Alberta
- Ability to perform physically demanding work and lift up to 50 lbs
This is a safety-sensitive position. Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
