Madison Village is seeking an experienced, values-driven Administrator to provide senior leadership at our 78-bed long-term care home in Stoney Creek, Ontario. This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned LTC professional to lead a resident-centred home committed to quality, compliance, and compassionate care.
As the Administrator of the home, you will hold overall accountability for the day-to-day operation of the facility — including resident care, programs and services, environmental and building maintenance, staff management, and fiscal performance.
Regulatory Compliance & Governance
- Ensure full compliance with the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021, O. Reg. 246/22, OHSA, and all applicable Provincial and Municipal regulations
- Prepare for and lead Ministry of Long-Term Care inspections, accreditation surveys, and Public Health and Fire Department reviews
- Review and investigate all Critical Incident Reports; ensure timely notification of Owner/Designate when abuse or critical injury is identified
- Oversee the Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) program in accordance with the established IPAC Plan
Resident Care & Quality Management
- Champion a culture of resident-centred care, dignity, and continuous quality improvement
- Oversee the CQI/QM program, including annual program evaluation, strategic planning, and goal-setting
- Ensure prompt investigation and resolution of all resident and family complaints within legislated timelines (10 business days for Residents' Council concerns)
- Develop and maintain an efficient admissions and discharge system in liaison with residents, families, physicians, and community partners
Financial & Operational Management
- Prepare, implement, and manage departmental budgets in collaboration with department managers and per Ministry directives
- Ensure payroll hours are consistent with approved bi-weekly budgets; monitor accounts payable and receivable
- Maintain all financial records including Residents' Trust Accounts, audited financial statements, and required MOLTC reporting
- Review, update, and approve service agreements and contracts with external service providers
- Oversee the building maintenance program to ensure a safe, well-maintained environment for residents, staff, and visitors
Human Resources & Labour Relations
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and progressive discipline processes for all departments
- Develop and maintain an effective performance appraisal system; personally conduct evaluations of senior management
- Ensure robust orientation, mandatory training, and continuing education programs across all disciplines
- Actively participate in union negotiations for the renewal of collective agreements, including the development of Management Proposals
- Oversee the WSIB program; ensure all incidents are investigated, documented, and actioned in a timely manner
Leadership & Communication
- Chair Senior Management meetings and the Emergency Preparedness Committee; attend corporate meetings as required
- Maintain effective liaison with MOLTC, Ontario Health, Local Public Health, and other regulatory and community stakeholders
- Provide timely, transparent communication to residents, families, staff, volunteers, and the public
- Designate a qualified senior staff member to assume responsibility for operations during absences
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Recognized degree in Health Administration, or a diploma in Long-Term Care Management (or equivalent)
- Solid knowledge of financial accounting and budget management
- Must meet all qualification requirements under the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021 and O. Reg. 246/22
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of relevant management experience in a long-term care or healthcare setting
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in long-term care operations
- Demonstrated experience leading teams through Ministry inspections and/or accreditation processes
Knowledge & Skills
- In-depth knowledge of the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021, O. Reg. 246/22, and related Ontario legislation
- Strong background in geriatric care, including nursing, dietary, activation, and medical services
- Expertise in facility management, OHSA, fire safety, accreditation standards, and business administration
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build trust with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Financial acumen with experience managing multi-departmental budgets
- Familiarity with CIHI/CCRS quality indicators and the LTC inspection process is a strong asset
