Health Care Aide (Dementia Care), Sherwood Park

We are currently seeking an experienced Health Care Aide (HCA) to provide one-on-one care for a client in Sherwood Park.
Position Details
Location: Sherwood Park, Alberta
Hours: Approximately 18 hours per week
Required Schedule:
- Monday to Friday: 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
- Tuesday and Friday: Additional shift from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Monday to Friday: 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Applicants must be available to work the entire schedule.
About the Role
This position involves providing compassionate, consistent care to a client living with dementia. We are looking for someone who is patient, dependable, and experienced in supporting clients with cognitive impairment while promoting dignity, comfort, and independence.
Responsibilities
- Assist with personal care including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Provide safe transfers and mobility assistance as required
- Ensure medications are taken as directed (medication reminders)
- Monitor and report changes in the client's physical or cognitive condition
- Provide companionship and meaningful engagement throughout each visit
- Light housekeeping and maintaining a clean, safe living environment
- Communicate professionally with family members and the Five Pillars Care team
- Complete required documentation accurately and promptly
- Follow all health, safety, and infection prevention protocols
Qualifications
- Health Care Aide (HCA) Certificate required
- Minimum 1 year of caregiving experience
- Previous experience caring for clients with dementia is required
- Strong understanding of person-centered dementia care
- Compassionate, patient, and reliable
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently in a client's home
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence and reliable vehicle preferred
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
Requirements
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification (preferred)
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to maintain client confidentiality and professional standards
