Position Overview: As Quality Control Inspector in the Aerospace Industry, you will be responsible for ensuring that all aerospace components and assemblies meet the highest quality standards and comply with industry regulations and customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Inspection and Testing:
- Conduct detailed inspections of aerospace components, assemblies, and materials using various testing methods and tools, including but not limited to calipers, micrometers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
- Perform first article inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 standards.
- Execute non-destructive testing (NDT) procedures, such as ultrasonic, radiographic, magnetic particle, and dye penetrant inspections.
2. Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare and maintain accurate inspection records, including non-conformance reports (NCR), inspection checklists, and detailed inspection reports.
- Document and report any deviations from quality standards and specifications, and initiate corrective and preventive actions.
3. Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure all products comply with internal and external standards, such as ISO 9001, AS9100, and customer-specific requirements.
- Keep abreast of regulatory and industry changes affecting quality control processes and standards.
4. Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues and implement improvements.
- Provide feedback and recommendations for process improvements and preventive measures to enhance overall product quality.
- Communicate effectively with customers and suppliers regarding quality-related issues and ensure timely resolution.
5. Continuous Improvement:
- Participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving activities to identify and eliminate defects and quality issues.
- Assist in the development and implementation of quality control procedures and standards to drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
1. Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
- Certifications in quality control, such as Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or Certified Quality Technician (CQT), are a plus but not required.
2. Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in quality control inspection within the aerospace industry or a similar manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
3. Skills and Competencies:
- Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in using various inspection tools and equipment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS) and standards such as ISO 9001 and AS9100.
4. Other Requirements:
- Applicants will be screened for the requirements of Canadian Controlled Goods Program and must pass relevant criminal background checks.
- Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English
- Ability to work primarily in a manufacturing / production environment where employee will be required to stand, walk and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work in an environment with exposure to moderate noise levels, dust, varying temperatures, hazardous materials and compliance to safety precautions.
- Compliance with proper use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when working in or travelling through an environment requiring strict adherence to safety protocols.
- Able to work as part of a small team in a fast paced, dynamic work environment.
- Flexibility to working a rotating schedule of days and evenings (shift work)
- Capable of lifting and moving materials up to 25 pounds
- Good vision (corrected as needed) to discern fine details.
Pay: $17.60-$25.00 per hour
