Primary Function
The Production Supervisor (Contract) is responsible for the efficient operation of the Manufacturing Department, the direction of the plant workforce, and the achievement of daily production schedules. This role supervises and coordinates the activities of employees on the afternoon shift, Monday to Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 1:15 a.m., with short overtime shifts on Fridays as required. The incumbent ensures that manufacturing processes are followed and works closely with operators, engineers, and quality personnel to identify and resolve potential customer and production issues
Responsibilities
- Coach team members to understand and achieve company objectives related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity, Cost, and Morale.
- Be accountable for meeting production and quality targets while leading initiatives to improve quality and reduce costs.
- Ensure timely communication of scheduled work hours to leaders and employees.
- Complete employee time, attendance, absenteeism, and vacation documentation accurately and on time, using required systems.
- Develop and maintain positive employee relationships through clear and effective communication of company policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Maintain accurate production records and reports.
- Collaborate closely with Process Engineering, Maintenance, and Production Control to maximize operational efficiency.
- Identify root causes of issues and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Analyze and resolve work-related problems or support leaders in addressing operational challenges.
- Inspect products to verify conformance to specifications; investigate non‑conformances, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate departmental activities by working with other supervisors.
- Review production schedules, estimate labour requirements, and develop action plans to meet operational needs.
- Ensure timely completion of all manufacturing schedules, including subassemblies, service requirements, and interdepartmental requests.
Education
· Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
· High School/ GED minimum requirement
Qualifications
· 5+ years supervisory/leadership experience (preferred)
· Manufacturing industry experience required
· Unionized environments experience an asset
· Forklift licence or willingness to obtain
· First Aid/ CPR certification or willingness to obtain
· ERP experience an asset (SAP preferred)
· Good computer skill including use of MS Outlook, Word, Excel
· Strong communication skills including written and verbal
Pay: $33.50-$35.70 per hour
