Our client, is seeking to hire a HR Generalist-Health & Safety
JOB SUMMARY
The HR – Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible to ensure the efficient operation of OAI in accordance with
Company policies and procedures, which includes employee relations, recruitment, health and safety, training,
compensation, labour relations and regulatory compliance.
Work is performed in a fast-paced environment within tight time constraints.
Unusual hours and travel may be required.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
The HR reports directly to the Vice President
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Co-ordinate, implement and oversee the company health and safety program to ensure compliance with all health and safety rules, regulations, etc.
Serve as certified member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee. Schedule, organize monthly plant inspections, meetings and preparation of all necessary paperwork and resources for such.
Prepare all WSIB documentation, forms, etc. as required for the processing of claims, correspondence, etc.
Assist Office Manager with Pak Time / SSC system for daily verification of approvals.
Administer the Attendance Control Program including daily recording, processing and verification of attendance
for all employees.
Develop, implement coordinate and maintain policies and procedures related to recruitment, employment labour
relations, wage and benefit administration, safety, worker’ compensation, grants and training.
Ensure compliance with various municipal, provincial and federal rules and Regulations
Administer disciplinary program.
Perform workplace inspections.
Gather, analyze and maintain data for HR.
Assist and develop strategy for labour negotiations
Recruitment and sign up of new employees.
Ensure all management personnel comply with and administer the Collective Agreement in a consistent manner
and mentor direct reports
Ensure all direct/indirect reports follow Company policies and procedures
Employee relations and dealing with Union issues and Collective Agreement administration.
Orientation of new employees.
Mentoring of supervisory/management staff.
Work with production on requirements going forward
Process ROEs as required
Implement training strategy to address salary and operator requirements
Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Computer proficient
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to collect, maintain and analyze data
Ability to maintain working relationship with internal and external customers
Proven leadership capabilities in a team environment
Basic knowledge of Health & Safety, union contracts
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
proven experience in Human Resources/Health & Safety in a manufacturing environment.
Occupational Health and Safety Act Knowledge including Health & Safety Certification Part I & Part II.
