Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated After School Help / Respite Aides to provide essential support to individuals with diverse needs. This role involves assisting children and adults in a caring, safe, and engaging environment, helping them with daily activities and fostering independence. The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of patience, empathy, and a desire to make a positive impact on the lives of those they serve. Prior experience in caregiving or healthcare settings is highly valued, but training will be provided for the right candidate. This position offers an opportunity to develop skills in patient care, disability support, and personal assistance within a supportive team environment.
Duties
- Assist children and adults with after-school activities, homework, and recreational tasks
- Provide respite care for family members or primary caregivers by supervising and engaging clients
- Support individuals with disabilities through personal care activities such as grooming, mobility assistance, and light housekeeping
- Administer medications as directed and ensure safety protocols are followed
- Prepare meals and snacks tailored to dietary needs
- Assist with light cleaning tasks to maintain a safe and hygienic environment
- Monitor clients’ well-being, report any concerns or changes in condition to supervisors or healthcare professionals
- Engage clients in social, educational, or therapeutic activities to promote development and well-being
- Support clients during transitions between activities or locations within the home or care facility
Skills
- Prior experience in assisted living, nursing home, senior care, hospice care, or home care is preferred
- Strong patience and compassionate caregiving skills
- Ability to handle heavy lifting when necessary for mobility assistance or transfers
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or dementia is advantageous
- Knowledge of medication administration and basic health monitoring techniques
- Ability to prepare meals safely and assist with feeding if required
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and team members
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing needs of clients
- Basic cleaning skills to maintain a safe living environment

Pay: $18.00-$18.25 per hour
