Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled, experienced, and dependable AZ Driver / Shunt Truck Operator to join our team in Leamington, Ontario.
This position involves operating a yard shunt truck exclusively on-site, moving refrigerated trailers (reefers) throughout a large property. There is no over-the-road driving, no highway travel, and no long-haul work. The role consists of safely repositioning trailers between docks, staging areas, parking locations, fueling areas, and other designated locations within the facility.
This is a steady, year-round position offering a consistent start time, predictable shift schedule, and stable hours each week. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced transportation and warehousing environment.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a yard shunt truck to move refrigerated trailers throughout the property.
- Position trailers at loading and unloading docks as directed.
- Relocate empty and loaded trailers between staging areas, parking locations, fueling areas, and maintenance locations.
- Perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections of the shunt truck and report any defects or maintenance concerns.
- Verify trailer numbers and locations to ensure accurate trailer placement.
- Maintain a safe working environment and follow all company safety procedures.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse personnel, and management regarding trailer movements and operational requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of trailer moves and equipment inspections as required.
- Ensure all work is completed efficiently while maintaining a strong focus on safety and equipment care.
- Represent the company professionally at all times.
Qualifications
- Valid AZ Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience operating a shunt truck, yard truck, terminal tractor, or commercial tractor-trailer combination is preferred.
- Experience handling refrigerated trailers (reefers) is considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of safe trailer handling procedures and yard operations.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Dependable, punctual, and safety-oriented.
- Ability to work a consistent schedule with predictable start times and shift lengths year-round.
- Knowledge of applicable transportation and workplace safety regulations.
