OVERVIEW
The Procurement Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of the organization by purchasing machinery, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and services. This position involves evaluating suppliers, approving purchases, and managing contracts to secure the best quality merchandise at competitive prices.
The ideal candidate will possess strong negotiation and communication skills, with a keen attention to detail. They will be experienced in analyzing financial reports and technical data, and will work collaboratively with staff and vendors to resolve issues related to goods and services. A solid understanding of supply chain management and applicable purchasing regulations is essential for success in this role.
Pay: T4: 40-41 / IC: $45-47

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review and optimize suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, and other relevant factors.
- Approve purchases of the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible price and in correct amounts.
- Approve purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and review requisitions for goods and services.
- Instruct staff on how to resolve problems related to undelivered goods.
- Guide staff on methods of negotiation, renegotiation, and administration of contracts with suppliers, vendors, and other representatives.
- Confer with staff, users, and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective action.
- Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and to determine the need for changes.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in finance or a related business field is required.
- 2-4 years of finance-related experience is required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and negotiation skills.
- Ability to analyze financial reports, price proposals, and other technical data.
- Proficient in accurately documenting and recording customer/client information.
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to purchasing.
- Understanding of supply chain management principles.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Proficiency in computer applications, such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
