The Events & Hospitality Accountant is responsible for the full-scope accounting, reconciliation, and financial oversight of MRG Live (Events & Festivals) and Hospitality locations. Reporting to the Assistant Director, Finance, this role ensures accurate event costing, settlements, tax compliance, and financial reporting across the full event lifecycle, supporting over 1,000 events annually across owned and operated venues in Canada and internationally.

1. Event Accounting & Financial Management

Own full-scope accounting and reconciliation for all Live, Events, Festivals, and venue activity.

Track event revenue, costs, and associated taxes throughout the event lifecycle.

Record all event-related financial activity in Sage, including revenue, costs, taxes, and adjustments.

Book intercompany transactions related to events and concerts accurately and timely.
2. Operational Finance Support

Monitor and close open transactions in Square and Triple Seat to ensure accurate revenue capture.

Support operations teams by providing revenue and expense analysis as needed.

Monitor the AR for the whole group, managing the email and Asana Board
3. Reconciliation & Month-End Close

Perform timely bank and credit card reconciliations for hospitality bank accounts.

Support the month-end close process by ensuring all revenue and expense entries are posted on time.

Recording of inventory, cash flows, tips/cash tips payable and gratuity to meet month-end close

Audit support for year end related to hospitality
4. Month-End Close & Financial Reporting

Prepare event-level profit and loss (P&L) statements and post-event estimates and adjustments.

Own Balance Sheet reconciliations for relevant legal entities and GL accounts.

Ensure reconciliations are completed accurately and on schedule.
5. Tax Compliance (Contractor & Multi-Jurisdictional)

Prepare and issue T4A- slips and related filings for events business contractors.

Ensure compliance with federal and provincial tax requirements related to events.

Maintain documentation to support audits and regulatory reviews.
6. Process Improvement & Analytical Support

Event settlement after completion of events within 10 business days post event.

Champion process enhancements to improve accuracy, efficiency, and reporting quality.

Provide analytical and financial support for special projects as assigned.

3+ years’ of progressive full-scope Festivals & Events and/or Hospitality accounting

Minimum 2 years' experience managing multi-entity month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and intercompany accounting.

Experience with specific Accounting software (e.g., Sage Intacct or other Sage Product), Beanworks (or similar AP automation), and proficiency in advanced Excel functions (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables) is required.

Professional accounting designation (CPA) or progress toward designation is considered an asset.

Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and manage a high volume of transactions across multiple business units.
