Earth Child Montessori School is seeking an experienced, motivated, and dynamic Assistant Manager to join our leadership team.
The successful candidate will begin their role at one of our Richmond campus for training and operational support. Subject to the opening of our Hamilton campus, the position is expected to transition to that location at a later date.
Qualified Early Childhood Educators may be eligible for the BC Early Childhood Educator Wage Enhancement, in accordance with provincial program requirements.
This position works closely with the School Manager to support the daily operations of the school and help ensure the delivery of high-quality childcare services. The role is well suited for an experienced Early Childhood Educator who enjoys mentoring educators, supporting families, maintaining licensing compliance, and contributing to a positive school culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the School Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the campus.
- Ensure the school operates in compliance with BC Child Care Licensing Regulations and company policies.
- Monitor attendance, enrollment, classroom ratios, staffing, and operational efficiency.
- Assist with classroom coverage and daily staffing arrangements as needed.
- Help maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming learning environment.
- Support, mentor, and coach teachers to maintain high-quality classroom practices.
- Assist with staff onboarding, orientation, and ongoing professional development.
- Guide classroom management and parent communication.
- Conduct regular classroom observations and provide constructive feedback.
- Foster a collaborative, positive, and professional team culture.
- Assist with staff scheduling, performance evaluations, and conflict resolution.
- Build strong relationships with families through professional and timely communication.
- Address parents' questions and concerns with empathy and professionalism.
- Assist with family tours and enrollment activities as required.
- Assist in organizing parent meetings and conferences.
- Foster a welcoming environment for children, families, and staff.
- Support the implementation of Montessori-inspired learning practices.
- Ensure classrooms meet licensing, health, and safety standards.
- Monitor classroom documentation, children's records, and developmental observations.
- Support continuous quality improvement initiatives throughout the school.
- Assist with licensing inspections and compliance documentation.
- Support student enrollment, registration, and classroom transitions.
- Collaborate with the School Administrator and School Manager to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Assist in planning and coordinating school events, including Graduation Ceremony, Winter Concert, Open House, Parent-Teacher Conferences, Seasonal Celebrations, Field Trips, and family events.
- Support newsletters, parent communications, and community outreach initiatives.
- Participate in budgeting, inventory management, purchasing, and other operational projects as required.
Qualifications
- Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certificate recognized in British Columbia.
- Montessori Teaching Certificate (AMI or AMS)
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a licensed childcare setting.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of BC Child Care Licensing Regulations.
- Excellent leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Positive, adaptable, and collaborative leadership style.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.
- Experience with childcare management software (such as Esikidz) is an asset.
- Knowledge of BC childcare funding programs, including CCFRI and the Affordable Child Care Benefit, is an asset.
- Experience with Canva, Photoshop, or other graphic design software is an asset.
- Valid First Aid & CPR Certification.
- Successful Criminal Record Check.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.
