InfraHydro™ is a dynamic, multi-discipline team of specialists providing inspection and rehabilitation services to support municipal and industrial clients in maintaining and upgrading their facilities.
The Combo Unit (Vacuum/Flusher) Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of combination sewer cleaning equipment used for hydro-excavation, flushing, and vacuuming of sanitary and storm sewer systems. The operator performs routine maintenance, assists with inspections, and ensures all work is completed in compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate combo vacuum/flusher truck for:
- Sewer cleaning and flushing (sanitary & storm systems)
- Catch basin cleaning
- Hydro-excavation and daylighting
- Control high-pressure water systems and vacuum equipment safely
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment
- Set up traffic control and ensure safe work zones
- Identify blockages, debris, and system issues during cleaning operations
- Assist CCTV crews or inspection teams as required
- Complete daily logs, hazard assessments, and job documentation
- Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment
- Follow confined space entry procedures when required
- Adhere to all OH&S regulations and company safety policies
Qualifications
- Valid Class 1 or Class 3 Driver’s License (air brakes required)
- Experience operating combo units, vacuum trucks, or similar equipment (preferred)
- Knowledge of sewer systems and underground infrastructure (asset)
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments and varying weather conditions
- Strong understanding of safety procedures (traffic control, confined space, etc.)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a crew
- Operating VACTOR trucks is an asset
- Knowledge of Trucks trouble shooting and minor maintenance is an asset

- First Aid / CPR
- Ground Disturbance Level II
- WHMIS
Working Conditions
- Outdoor work in all weather conditions
- Exposure to wastewater, debris, and confined spaces
- Physically demanding (lifting hoses, equipment, etc.)
- Overtime and on-call work may be required

Duties:
- Operate a variety of trucks and heavy equipment to transport materials and products to and from job sites
- Load and unload materials onto trucks using forklifts or other heavy equipment
- Perform pre-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure that they are in good working condition
- Drive trucks on established routes while following traffic laws and safety regulations
- Deliver products to customers in a timely and professional manner
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including delivery times, quantities, and any issues that arise during the delivery process
