You'll take a design file and a client brief and turn it into something live: a React build one week, a WordPress theme the next, a stubborn PHP bug the week after that. You own the technical side of what our clients see and use, from the first commit through deployment and hosting, to the moment something breaks in production and you're the one who fixes it.

About the role
Twelve months in, success looks like this: every client site you own is stable, fast, and documented well enough that someone else could pick it up without you. You're running deployment and hosting for the client portfolio without anyone having to check in on it. You can take a client brief and scope the build without hand-holding, and you flag scope creep before it becomes a problem instead of after. You've got an AI-assisted workflow that visibly speeds up routine work without lowering the bar on what ships. And when something breaks on a live site, you're the one who fixes it and explains what happened, not the one we find out from a client complaint. You report to the Ops Manager.
What you'll do
- Build and maintain client websites and landing pages across React/Next.js and WordPress, matching the platform to what the client actually needs Write and integrate custom PHP for WordPress themes, plugins, and site-specific functionality Build front-end components and light back-end services in React/Node.js for clients who need more than a CMS can do Debug and fix production issues on live client sites, including ones you didn't originally build Own deployment and hosting infrastructure across the client portfolio: staging environments, backups, SSL, uptime monitoring, and security patching Handle incident response when a live site goes down, from diagnosis to fix Use AI coding tools as part of your daily workflow, and know when to trust the output and when to check it by hand Coordinate with design and marketing team members so builds match the brief and ship on schedule
What we're looking for
Required
- 3–5 years of professional experience building and shipping production web applications and/or WordPress sites Working fluency in both a modern JS framework (React or Next.js) and PHP/WordPress theme and plugin development, since client work splits across both Real hands-on DevOps experience: deployment pipelines, hosting and infrastructure management, uptime monitoring, and security patching, since this role owns both development and DevOps for the client portfolio Comfortable owning a build end to end: scoping it from a brief, building it, testing it, and handling what breaks after launch, including production incidents Actively uses AI coding tools (such as Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor) in your day-to-day work, and can speak specifically to how it changes your workflow, not just that you've tried it Solid grasp of web performance, browser compatibility, and basic security practices like input sanitization and dependency patching Can read a client's plain-language requirements and turn them into a technical plan without a lot of back-and-forth
Nice to have
- Experience working across multiple client codebases at once, on an agency team or as a freelancer Familiarity with Jira, SharePoint, or similar tools Experience with page builders and site speed optimization Formal DevOps or SRE background, or relevant certifications
