The Shipper & Receiver is responsible for organizing and supervising the flow of finished goods out of the plant. Supports the maintenance and control stock of finished goods, and packaging supplies. Receive materials and products into the plant and office verifying packing slip accuracy. Ensure product is stored in an orderly manner to best achieve FIFO inventory rotation.
The Shipper and Receiver reports to the Materials Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Shipping:
- Prepare shipping documents and dispatch shipments in accordance with customer releases and courier requests
- Verify shipments are loaded properly and leave on time
- Ensure all shipment documentation is accurate and Advance Shipping Notices are sent as required
Receiving:
- Receive incoming parts, materials, and packaging; perform inspections and store in designated
locations
- Process receiving paperwork and ensure proper inventory updates
Inventory & Packaging:
- Maintain accurate counts of finished goods, components, and packaging
- Organize storage areas and manage stock rotation
- Identify and segregate damaged materials or packaging
Equipment & Safety:
- Safely operate and maintain lift trucks and other material handling equipment
- Follow all safety regulations and comply with OHSA and company policies
Compliance & Continuous Improvement:
- Support quality, environment, and audit requirements (ISO 9001, IATF, ISO 14001, CTPAT)
- Suggest improvements to shipping, receiving, and inventory processes
General Duties:
- Assist with inventory counts as required
- Notify Materials Manager of low stock or material issues
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Follows and comply with all Operational Procedures and policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Quality and Environment programs (i.e. IATF, ISO 14001)
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- High School Diploma required; College Diploma preferred
- 3–5 years of experience in shipping & receiving, material handling, or logistics in a manufacturing environment
- Valid Forklift Operating License
- Inventory control and stock management skills
- Basic ERP/MRP system knowledge; CMS experience is a plus
- Familiarity with warehouse or production flow processes
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Ability to work effectively with multiple levels of staff
- Understanding of production and manufacturing processes
