Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Medical Office Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional administrative support in a fast-paced medical or dental office setting. This role involves managing patient interactions, maintaining electronic medical records, and ensuring smooth daily operations. Prior experience with electronic health records systems such as Epic or Dentrix is highly preferred. The Medical Office Assistant plays a vital role in delivering excellent patient care and supporting clinical staff by handling front desk duties and administrative tasks efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and manage check-in/check-out procedures at the front desk
- Schedule appointments and coordinate patient flow using electronic medical records systems like Epic or Dentrix
- Answer multi-line phone systems, direct calls appropriately, and take detailed messages
- Verify patient information, update records, and ensure accuracy of medical documentation
- Assist with billing, insurance claims, and payment processing as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized reception area to promote a professional environment
- Support clinical staff with administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and data entry
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times
Skills
- Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems such as Epic or Dentrix
- Strong knowledge of Medical Terminology and Dental Terminology
- Previous experience as a Dental Receptionist or in a Dental Office setting is highly desirable
- Office experience including front desk responsibilities and administrative support
- Ability to operate multi-line phone systems efficiently
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to multitask effectively in a busy healthcare environment
- Familiarity with office equipment and basic computer applications
