The Opportunity
The Compassion Network is currently looking for Health Care Aides for a Home Care opportunity in St. Albert, AB . Shifts are Sunday to Friday, 08:00-14:00(6 hours).
Our Health Care Aides are an integral part of our clients’ daily lives as our clients rely on our Aides to function effectively and comfortably. Our Aides provide the necessary physical and emotional support to our clients, but also relay insight and ideas to the health care professional in charge to improve our clients’ safety and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
Include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting clients with activities of daily living, personal care, and other health care tasks as delegated by the health care professional in charge (e.g., LPN, RN, physician)
- Home support activities including meal preparation, cooking, housekeeping, and shopping
- Ensuring clients are safe and comfortable
- Finding creative and effective solutions to improve client's quality of life and wellbeing
- Reporting and documenting necessary items appropriately and in a timely fashion
- Following direction and training from your supervisor
- Performing duties diligently and compassionately within your scope of practice
- Completing tasks with a high level of professionalism, expertise, and competency
Education & Experience
- License: Health Care Aide (HCA) CLHA Registration
- Experience with Hoyer Lift, G-tube feeding, and mouth suctioning is required.
- Health Care Aide certificate (or equivalent) from an accredited institution
- CPR/BLS certification required
- Minimum 1-year experience in a clinical setting considered an asset
- Basic computer literacy
- Must speak, read, and write English fluently

- Ability to problem solve through critical thinking and self-education
- Ability to meet physical demands of the job including knowledge in appropriate ergonomics
- Ability to learn and receive training in areas you may have knowledge in, but no prior experience
- Enthusiastic attitude and energy to provide excellent care and service
Working Conditions
- Must be able to travel to St. Albert, AB
- Ability to work evenings and weekends, as required
