Summary:
The Grounds Maintenance Foreman is responsible for performing a variety of tasks in order to manage the timely completion of service contracts. These will include commercial and residential stratas, and residential properties. This position may also be occasionally required to help out on installation and hard/soft scape job sites.
The grounds maintenance foreman will be required to supervise a crew of labourers and operate a variety of tools and equipment to carry out specific job tasks, as well as provide daily/weekly progress reporting on job time, employee performance etc.
Area of Operation:
Our client base ranges from the west side of Vancouver to Burnaby and the North Shore.
Compensation:
$25 - $32 per hour (depending on experience)

Job Duties:
- Plan and manage the loading/unloading of trucks and trailers, equipment and materials required to complete daily objectives
- Cut grass, line trim edges, clean up debris, blow trimmings.
- Plant trees, perennials, bulbs and annuals.
- Lawn treatment services (aeration, fertilization etc)
- Move and install soil, mulch, plants and other materials to assist with the construction of landscapes as well as regular maintenance
- Spray areas to control insects and/or weeds (applicator ticket, an asset)
- Operate power equipment including, but not limited to; lawn mowers, line trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers, pruning saws, chain saws, and all other requisite hand tools
- Supervise the work of crew members to ensure proper safety, quality, and productivity
- Train crew members on proper and safe job methods
- Conduct daily/weekly inspections and maintenance on vehicles, tools, and equipment
Requirements:
■ High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
■ Minimum 3 years’ experience in the landscape/grounds maintenance industry
■ Minimum 1 year of experience as a crew lead/foreman
■ Valid driver’s license and safe/clean driving record
■ Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner
■ Effective communication skills – must be able to carry out verbal instructions, read labels and signs, complete daily reports to office and/or customers
■ Time management skills, punctuality
■ Knowledge of specific materials, methods, tools and equipment required to complete various landscape/landscape construction practices
■ Ability to work both independently, and as part of a team
■ Ability to walk, stand, crouch for long periods of time and carry out strenuous physical tasks
Work Conditions:
■ Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, small engine equipment, and materials
■ Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire shift
■ Ability to work in a fast paced environment
■ Requires good manual dexterity
■ Excellent stamina is required
■ Work near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis
■ Work outdoors in various conditions
■ Flexible working hours in other job-related duties including construction projects, shop and yard maintenance, vehicle and equipment maintenance
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35.0 – 45.0 per week
